In the run-up to Pope Francis’ visit, Papua New Guinea made international headlines with negative news. At the beginning of the year, serious unrest broke out in the capital, Port Moresby. In the Province of Enga, there were also tribal conflicts resulting in dozens of deaths as well as a severe landslide that claimed more than 2,000 lives.
